Plan a Field Trip to the Museum

The Comic-Con Museum Education Center offers field trips year-round for school and community groups.

Our staff of professional educators design programming that targets the California Common Core State Standards in STEAM, Literacy, and Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) using components of fan culture such as comic books, graphic novels, film, television, digital and other media.

Our field trip options include:

Makerspaces at the Comic-Con Museum Gift Shop

Education and community groups can take a self-guided field trip through the Museum’s exhibits with optional scavenger hunt

STEAM learning takes the lead with our makerspace workshops and allows learners to explore the technical side of fandom. Learners of all ages might find themselves creating:

  • 3D cardboard art- Design templates courtesy of Cardboard Superheroes
  • mechanical Scribble Bots
  • designing games
  • and much more!

All activities are designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards and California State Literacy Standards related to media production.

Makerspaces at the Comic-Con Museum Gift Shop

When learners read and make comics, they demonstrate powerful literacies! Using comics as tools, learners in our Comics 101 workshop will

  • create comics
  • look for text patterns in comics
  • read comics
  • and even take one home!

Activities are designed to meet California State Standards in Visual and Performing Arts, as well as K-12 Literacy Standards.
